Family Day
Everyone in the community is invited to Family Day, a lively open house coordinated by the Friends of the Museum. Each Family Day concentrates on a new topic and intriguing activities. Activities such as "hands-on" interactive crafts, games, storytellers and exhibits are offered to coincide with the Family Day topic. Family Day at the Karshner Museum is a sponsored event of the Friends of the Karshner Museum.

at the Karshner Museum
The Karshner Museum provides a space where Puyallup school children can learn and experience culture, history and art. The museum provides this same idea for Puyallup community members by sponsoring several special events and receptions where ideas and activities can be seen and discussed. These events take place throughout the course of the year and will be posted on this site as they are scheduled.

Friends of the Museum
In 1988 the Friends of the Museum was founded as a support organization for the museum by a group of volunteers, educators and community members with the purpose of promoting the museum programs and resources. This group wanted to fulfill a need within the community for positive educational programs which includes all members of the family. The Friends host Family Days for parents and children on selected Saturdays during the school year. Through their endeavors, hundreds of families have had the opportunity to discover the Karshner Museum.

An ongoing theme for the Friends of the Museum and the Karshner Museum has been the energetic and creative blending of themes from the past with educational needs of today. The volunteer spirit associated with the Friends of the Museum is captured in this quote:

The Friends' goals are:
Increase public awareness of the Museum.
Extend the Museum's cultural and educational services
to the broader community.
Raise funds on the Museum's behalf.
